Guide to Tips on Selecting The Right Health Club

The busiest time for a fitness club is just after Christmas but many people stop attending within a few months so if you join a club you want to make sure they will motivate you enough to keep coming back. The first thing you really need to do is sit down and decide exactly what is you want to achieve from any club you join. If you choose your club well you will probably be a member for a long time; the reverse is also true. Where your club is situated is crucial because if it is too far away from work or home, you will make excuses why you can’t go along for a workout.

Having a decent well qualified instructor is the next most important as a good instructor will encourage you to not only attend but to keep the fitness training up. Always inform your physical trainer if you require any special attention or have any limitations they need to know about in advance. If you speak to the staff about their facilities and training programs, this will give you a good idea about the customer service level they provide. If the fitness club you are looking at has its own professional physiotherapist and dietitian for example, you can bet the club is serious about their commitment to members.

Make sure that the facility is open during the time you are most likely to use it and see what programs are there for you and check if they suit your interests. Some people join a fitness club to join classes; of course these are usually an extra charge so if at all possible try and have a free lesson before you commit to anything. There is nothing worse than waiting for equipment when the gym is busy so ensure you feel happy about this before you join. Modern equipment is safer and more comfortable to use but machines and other training facilities should be in clean and in good order so if you see a lot of ‘out of order’ signs, it could be something to think about.

Many clubs have a good social calendar which is worth noting and attending to get to know a few people who are members that may be able to help you with your training in the future. It is important to know the monthly membership fee and what it covers as some clubs have hidden charges, also check to see if they offer services at an extra fee and how often they increase rates. Fitness clubs vary which means you will need to visit a few to find one that you not only feel comfortable which also has all the facilities you require. Choosing a club is just like shopping on the best shirt for you so don’t be pressured or contact them right away; take your time to review and gather enough information if you are still not sure which one to choose.
