Yoga Sutras

Yoga is a form of art which is learnt and practice to bring peace to our mind, body and soul. It is important to bring peace to all the three as even if one of them is not at peace then it will disturb person both way, physically and mentally. Alternately, yoga can be practiced to cure a person suffering for illness like stress, stomach upset, severe migraine headache etc. To practice yoga a person need to know how to meditate as it is the only source to interact with our body and inner-self. There are many sutras that can be practiced during this period.

One of the sutra of yoga is Patanjali Yoga Sutra. This sutra is used to reach highest state of enlightenment. There are different stages involved in this. This state of enlightenment can be reached suddenly or gradually, both are possible. To be more clear let’s take an example. Suppose a person is filling swimming pool with water using bucket. It took the person 1000 buckets to fill the pool; this doesn’t mean that only the 1000th bucket filled the pool. Contribution of first bucket full of water cannot be neglected, similarly when a person suddenly reach to highest state of enlightenment then this mean that person’s previous tries have pushed the person to breakpoint where little effort can take that person to the goal.

Let’s talk Vivekajam-Jnanam. It is the knowledge to distinguish between objects that cannot be discriminated by their position, Characteristics or class. If Samyama is performed on ksana (smallest possible unit of the time) then the person can transcend the time itself. This enables the person to resolve two objects that are appearing and disappearing at same place in very minute time period. This is done by resolving the two similar objects to appearing as a single object.

Any knowledge that we have depends on the effect that object has on us (our mind). Some people, objects etc affect our mind deeply and so we try to know about them and hence our knowledge increase. To an average person giving complex scientific facts willYoga Sutras not affect that persons mind to the extend knowledge to that of the news of that persons favorite sport. This applies for philosophical ideas too. When a person’s interest arose or deepens in philosophy then the output that person needs form it will be easily achieved by that person.

When a class is going on and we see someone sleeping then we laugh at that person assuming that we all are awake, but unfortunately we are not. We are under some sort of stupor. In this case we might get angry on small things and later feel frustrated on getting angry which again led up to become angry again. This happens due to impure mind. We even tend to misunderstand our well wishers and get angry on them and later have to repent on our action. This problem can be resolved by taking rest. Just by sleeping at night is not good enough as our mind is still not at peace. For this we can meditate using suitable sutra for giving rest to our brain.
